Hole by Hole Guide

Hole 1 & 10
Par 3 | 158 Yards | S.I 17/18
Par 3 | 148 Yards | S.I 17/18
Par 3 | 140 Yards | S.I 17/16
An opening par 3 which is not as easy as it looks. There’s a tree midway between the tee and the green and don’t miss right as there are 2 bunkers lurking, usually leaving you short sided.
Short is better than long if you miss the green, long right could see your ball end up behind a large tree, where your pitch back to the green is hampered by the branches making this shot really tricky.

Hole 2 & 11
Par 4 | 426 Yards | S.I 7/4
Par 4 | 419 Yards | S.I 7/4
Par 4 | 425 Yards | S.I 3/4
Tee shots down the left are rewarded with a better angle into the green. Trees on the right that may block your approach.
The approach is best aimed at the front right of the green as a bank will feed your ball towards the pin. Go too far right and a green-side bunker is waiting.
Shots left will run down towards the 3rd tee and leave a tricky pitch to the green above.

Hole 3 & 12
Par 4 | 381 Yards | S.I 3/8
Par 4 | 371 Yards | S.I 3/8
Par 4 | 346 Yards | S.I 1/2
Our feature hole with the fairway sloping left to right. Longer hitters will go for the green in two but you need an accurate drive just right of the trees and a ridge that split the fairway. Any further right could result in trouble, as the slope takes the ball into thick rough.
For many, it's 3 shots to the green to avoid a blind second over a valley with a stream across the bottom.
The green is tricky - narrow, fast and slopes from left to right as well as back to front as you approach.

Hole 4 & 15
Par 4 | 284 Yards | S.I 15/14
Par 4 | 279 Yards | S.I 15/14
Par 4 | 262 Yards | S.I 13/14
Dog leg right around the green keepers yard. Longer hitters can drive the green by going over the trees but it's a risk. The main road is quite tight on the right, there are tall trees to clear with a greenside bunker and mounds at the far side of the fairway leaving a tricky approach to a green that slopes back to front.
Alternatively a 150-160 yard tee shot to the top of the hill leaves a straightforward 100-120 yards in.
Leaving your ball below the hole avoids a treacherous down-hill putt.

Hole 5 & 14
Par 4 | 412 Yards | S.I 9/2
Par 4 | 404 Yards | S.I 9/2
Par 5 | 406 Yards | S.I 9/10
Dog leg right with a tee shot to the fairway slightly below you. Be wary of the tall trees spanning the fairway about 150 yards from the tee.
The left side of the fairway leaves a better angle into a raised green and the ground slopes from right to left. Approach shots landing front right will feed down to the green.
Just beyond the green is an out of bounds fence, so pick your club wisely if attacking a back pin.

Hole 6 & 15
Par 3 | 180 Yards | S.I 13/16
Par 3 | 157 Yards | S.I 13/16
Par 3 | 129 Yards | S.I 15/18
Uphill par 3 which plays longer than it looks.
Depending on the wind, the tee you're playing from and the pin position, your tee shot can be anything from a 9 iron to a driver!
Bunkers at each side of the green guard a narrow entrance when the pin is at the front.
Pick the right club for a back pin as the large green slopes from back to front and leaves a very long putt if you miss-club.
Another green where it's advisable to be below the hole.

Hole 7 & 16
Par 4 | 317 Yards | S.I 5/10
Par 4 | 304 Yards | S.I 5/10
Par 4 | 309 Yards | S.I 7/8
Dog leg right to left, find the correct club for a layup short of the gap to leave an easier second shot.
Too far right and your second shot is over tall pines, go too far left ends up in trees, often resulting in a chip back to the fairway.
A narrow green with a front bunker and a massive oak to catch wayward shots heading to the right.

Hole 8 & 17
Par 4 | 389 Yards | S.I 11/6
Par 4 | 380 Yards | S.I 11/6
Par 4 | 347 Yards | S.I 11/12
Par 4 with a fairway that cambers both left and right with trees on both sides, means finding the short grass is a must to make the second shot easier.
Missing the fairway is likely to result in a blocked second shot.
The green is long and narrow and runs from front to back. A bunker on the left catches any under clubbed shots coming in from that side.

Hole 9 & 18
Par 4 | 430 Yards | S.I 1/12
Par 4 | 414 Yards | S.I 1/12
Par 5 | 397 Yards | S.I 5/6
Our hardest hole, a long uphill par 4 usually into the wind. Will be 3 shots for most but bigger hitters can reach in 2. Be aware of a ditch across most of the fairway around 250 yards from the tee (currently GUR). Finding the right of the fairway makes the second shot easier.
Drives on the left may be blocked by a mature oak tree, making access to the green tough.
The raised green is guarded by another big oak tree and a green-side bunker.
Don’t go too long though as OOB is just behind the green.
